About Us
Discovering Depth and Meaning in Jewish Contemplative Traditions
Maayan Hatum was founded as a centre dedicated to exploring the rich tapestry of Judaism’s contemplative traditions. Our journey began as a publisher on the ecstatic Kabbalah, and a forum for delving into its profound practices and teachings that have inspired generations. Over time, our work has grown to embrace a broader spectrum of Jewish learning and practice, now spanning retreats, haburot (study circles), workshops, personal coaching, and mentorship for those seeking depth, connection, and spiritual growth.
Our Approach
At Maayan Hatum, we are rooted in traditional Jewish meditation, contemplation, and the pursuit of personal and spiritual development. Our explorations reach across the ages—from the Hasidei Mitzrayim (the Maimonidean Sufis) and the flourishing Hasidic movement, to the transformative Mussar schools and the diverse streams of Kabbalistic thought. We value the wisdom of the past while thoughtfully integrating modern insights from mindfulness practice and psychology, ensuring our offerings are relevant and accessible to all.

What is Contemplative Judaism?
Mindfulness
Mindfulness invites us to be fully present, fostering a deeper awareness of ourselves and the world around us. It is a path to clarity, compassion and courage, enriching our lives with intention and meaning.
Stillness
Stillness is a sanctuary for reflection and renewal. In moments of quiet, we discover wisdom and peace, allowing us to reconnect with our inner selves and the sacredness of life.
Torah
Torah is the living thread that weaves together mindfulness, community, faith, and stillness. Its teachings illuminate our path, nurturing awareness, connection, trust, and inner peace, and guiding us toward a life of meaning and sacred purpose.
Community
Community is the foundation of belonging and shared growth. Through genuine connection, we find support, inspiration, and the strength to journey together, honoring each person’s unique role.
Faith
Faith is a source of hope and resilience, guiding us through life’s complexities. It invites us to lean into uncertainty with openness, drawing strength from tradition, the enduring bonds that connect us, and trust in the Divine.
